'I'm Still Me' Oglesby Centre, 555 Wilmslow Road, Manchester
Four Vernon Mill Artists, Sarah Morley, Alison Murdoch, Brigid Brind and Tracy Ireland and Derbyshire artist Jenny Mather were commissioned by The University of Leeds to create portraits for 'I'm Still Me' . This project features portraits of patients who have been affected by facial cancer, and their stories of their experience and rehabilitation. The project disseminates the scientific research of Dr Rachael Jablonski’s PhD study which evaluates novel digital dentistry approaches to improve facial prosthesis manufacture. From 1st to 31st July the Oglesby Cancer Research Centre at The Christie Hospital will host an exhibition featuring prints of the portraits of patients and the patient's accompanying stories. On 17th July there will be lunchtime lecture featuring a scientific discussion by Rachael and a roundtable discussion with artists, researchers, patients and the writer. The event will showcase the work behind the art exhibition on display in the Oglesby Cancer Research Building foyer, as well as discussion, around methodologies behind co-creating projects with researchers, artists and patients.
